The Rocky Mountain Trench Natural Resources Society is offering a FREE public presentation: Fire in the Trench: Past, Present and Future Tuesday March 10th 7:00 to 9:00pm Ktunaxa Government Building gym 200 Cranbrook St N. in Cranbrook.
The evening features two speakers:
Lori Daniels, professor of Fire Ecology in the Forest faculty at University of British Columbia, is a long time researcher of fire regimes in Western Canada including fire history in the East Kootenays. She will be presenting new research from the Rocky Mountain Trench and beyond. Her talk is entitled Wildfires in British Columbia: Causes, Consequences and Solutions
Don Gayton, is a former BC Forest Service Research Range Ecologist, from Summerland BC. He is a researcher for FORREX a Canadian forest research consortium, and he helped initiate the Rocky Mountain Trench Ecosystem Restoration program. Don currently works on Ecosystem Restoration in the Okanagan valley. His talk will be a retrospective with new ideas entitled Fire in the Dry Forest: A Pilgrim’s Progress
